Sexuality Orientation & your Kids.

Early this morning, I read my friend's status on Facebook. She mentioned a current reality about homosexuality in which it is featured a lot in movies and T.V programs to promote its acceptance. Now this sexual orientation which is most common in Western world, is slowing gaining ground in this part of the world, Nigeria inclusive. Although, this sexual disposition is as old as the Bible, it is a sexual practice which is looked down on.

Personally, this is a sexual practice I find rather disgusting and I believe homosexuality and any other weird sexual practice other than the norm is  one of the greatest conspiracy theory  from Hell.  That aside, I've come to accept it as one of the craziness of this world.

However, one issue I've come to find rather unsettling, is the introduction of homosexuality into cartoons and bedtime story books for kids. One of such Children's books is 'The King & the king'. The story book apparently  tells kids that it's OK to be gay.  WTH?  Now if you are as horrified as I am, you would be concerned as to what we can our children are exposed to, and what we can protect them from. It's one thing for you to teach kids about their sexuality from a young age, to teach the about both female and male body parts, and to also teach them about condoms, cos that's what I hear some schools especially in the Western world are doing; it's another thing to actually influence their thoughts with subtle hints of sexual orientation especially a despised one at that.

I was actually baffled that during my conversations with my friend on facebook, one of her friends actually commented saying 'it's good to teach acceptance even to kids , that it's OK to be whatever you are and whatever you want to be'. Hearing this response, and my mind literally started screaming. You mean a parent, a Nigerian one at that actually thinks it's OK to teach their kids on this kind of sexual orientation, and encouraging them to accept themselves for who they are? The world has definitely gone beyond crazy.

Now, you might think this isn't important to you, but in the current state of education in our Country, it is not uncommon to find parents sending their kids to America, UK or wherever for education; if not one stage, but all stages. As a parent, would you be happy to find your child come home with a tabooed sexual orientation? If you would, then your cross. I think as parents, it's important to protect your child in the best way you can; protect their young minds from being polluted and save them from the lies of this world.

Quick question to any parent, about to be parent, and everyone in general: 'Since we are in a world of teaching kids about sexual education, would you include other sexual orientations i.e homosexuality & bisexuality into what you teach them? How would you go about this? Would you accept them if they turned queer?

Your thoughts please.....

Sexuality has always being a touche topic from the days of old.

My take would be to teach your children to love God and love themselves and all other things will fall into place.

  2. @ Cleopatra does it mean that for all the donkey years past, parents did not teach their children about the love of God or of themselves???
Haba! Even animals with the lower senses know what is correct as regards to this, not to talk of we human beings, (you really don't need anyone to teach this).

In my opinion, spare the Rod and spoil the child. That is what is destroying the world. If Mr. A can go scott-free for a crime, the this is a motivation for Mr. B to commit the same crime.

  3. i am intrigued by things like this. i have a beautiful daughter and heaven knows what i will do if she comes home with a woman for a husband one day...having said that, i think teaching our children about sex is okay. but i vehemently refuse to tell her that same sex marriage or lesbian/gay feelings are ok. so my advice is to discuss these issues with her, backing up with scriptures because for me and my generation, it is GOD'S WAY or no other way!
