Nigeria: A country under distress!!

Jonathan
President Goodluck Jonathan

Over the past four days and counting, the soft spoken President of Nigerian has suffered various criticisms, insults, curses and scrutiny from Nigerians and the world in general who's watching Nigeria.

With the raving terror of Boko Haram and Mr. President's sudden removal of fuel subsidy, one cannot but question GEJ's competence in ruling a country who's major problem is it's complexity and diversity in language and culture.

He has currently earned himself the title as the most cursed president on facebook. As much as I'm glad that I didn't vote for GEJ and still do not support him, I still find most of the insults, curses and death wishes dished at him very disturbing and maybe totally not deserving, after all, we've seen worse presidents in this country.

Nationwide strike and #OccupyNigeria still gaining ground.

Lagos Protest

The Nation wide strike across Nigeria is still gaining ground as residents across the country comply by sitting at home. Business activities is on shut down and transportation is scarce as even filling stations have been asked to remain shut.

The senate president, David Mark, yesterday met with Labour and TUC leaders at his home in Abuja and tried to persuade them to call off the strike..but Labour and TUC leaders have refused insisting on a reversal of petrol back to N65.

Meanwhile, the members of the Ogun State Youth Alliance on Monday called on Goodluck Jonathan to revert to the pre-2012 N65 per litre of petrol or resign as the President of Nigeria. During their rally to the corporate headquarters of Punch Nigeria Ltd in Magboro, on Monday, the protesters, led by Adesina Ibrahim, Moses Ehix and the youth leader, Oladele Kehinde, they also advised the Finance Minister, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, to resign.

National strike and #OccupyNigeria in Pictures.

Today marked the day of the protesters as Nigerians across the Nation marched out into the streets to protest the removal of fuel subsidy as well as other forced sufferings imposed on the masses. It was a march of solidarity 'come one, come all'.

Unfortunately though, tragedy marked today's protest. It was supposed to be a peaceful protest but it's however sad see that our Nigerian police cannot handle a peaceful protest as they had to resort to killing innocent citizens. But the violence did not stop Nigerians or our vehemence to provoke the government.
